Riveting Raspberry Smoothie
I am obviously not a nutritionist. And some may say I have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to cooking/baking/blending. And they would be right. However, I’m the Queen of Winging things and chucking it all in in the hope that it tastes nice. Here’s one of those creations.
Making sure you’re eating a nicely balanced diet is obviously really important, and a great way to ensure you’re getting all your vitamins is with a cheeky smoothie. It’s all tricky being a student to eat well mainly because we’re kind of always poor and fruit and veg is spenny. However, this is a nice cheap way to tick those nutrition boxes.
This smoothie is what I like to call the Raunchy Raspberry- because with a mix of yummy ingredients we have a raunchily delicious flavour.
I started by adding 30g of Kale to a blender and having a lil blend. Kale is super cheap- you could probably buy enough Kale to start a Kale shop and make a hell of a lot of profit if you so wished. We love Kale, as its super packed in nutrients. I’m not a massive fan of it cooked so shoving it in a smoothie where I can’t really taste it is definitely the way to go.
When I was satisfied with my level of blending I added 50 grams (well I aimed for 50, it was actually 49 as you can see from the pic) of Raspberries. Fun fact about Raspberries, they derive their name from raspise which means “a sweet rose-coloured wine.” Unfortunately, they’re not actually wine- but they’re still super yummy and nutritious. I use frozen raspberries which actually work so much better in smoothies and are v cheap. I bought these from Lidl for about a pound. Bargain! They also last way longer.
I then added some cheeky chia seeds- which if I’m honest, I can never taste. I add them for a) their protein content, and b) their texture
Would any smoothie be complete without peanut butter. I seriously seriously doubt it. If I ever got stranded on a desert island and could pick one luxury item It’s fair to say that peanut butter would be right at the top of my list. I love it. It is quite high in calories so I have to restrain myself often but a spoonful in a smoothie works nicely and adds a nice nutty flavour. Also this one I use is made only of peanut butter and oil, Instead of other peanut butters which are packed full of salt and sugar and not v nice things.
After blending it all together we have the finished product! What a beaut colour.
And there we have it- a nice speedy healthy snack to start of your day.
P.S- I will occasionally add protein powder. But I have currently run out. Cri.
